NLPA Re-elects Philips as Chairman
at Annual Meeting Held in New Orleans

Colorado Springs, CO (Jan. 21, 2000) -- Sam Philips, a cattle feeder from Akron, Iowa, was re-elected as the National Livestock   Producers Association’s Chairman of the Board at NLPA’s annual meeting held in New Orleans, Jan. 13-15, 2000. 

Philips, who represents Producers Livestock Marketing Association, Omaha, Neb., on the NLPA board, said he was looking  forward to serving another term as NLPA’s Chairman.

“I feel good about this organization,” he said. “This year we are going to make some changes, keep a tight focus on our mission and take every opportunity to take care of our patrons. Things change fast in this business and we are going to do our best to keep our members apprised of what’s going on so that we can respond – good, bad or indifferent.”  

Philips was joined by John Frank, National Livestock Commission Assoc., in Oklahoma City, Okla., who was re-elected to serve as Vice Chairman. Other Executive Committee members are as follows: Flavius Barker, Tennessee Livestock Producers, Columbia, Tenn.; Greg Beck, Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association, Baraboo, Wis.; Dennis Bolling, United Producers, Columbus, Ohio; Jack Hanson, Tri-State Livestock Credit Corporation, Sacramento, Calif.; Henry Fox, Central Livestock Association/CRI, South St. Paul, Minn.; and Ray Ramsey, MLE Marketing/Southern States Cooperative, Richmond, Va. NLPA also welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors:   David Trimmer, Southern States Cooperative in Richmond, Va.; and Rick Keith, Producers Livestock Marketing Association in Omaha, Neb.

In a final change to its Board of Directors, NLPA recognized the retirement of two of its members:  Leonard Nuckles, Equity Livestock Credit Corporation, Baraboo, Wis.; and Charles Randall, Producers Livestock Marketing Association, N. Salt Lake, Utah.
