A native of Colorado, Scott was raised on his family’s commercial cow/calf ranch in the North-Central Colorado mountains and he has been involved in the livestock industry continuously since that time. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agricultural Business and Economics from Colorado State University and prior to his current position, served as the general manager of the National Producers Service Company, a member firm of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, working with livestock producers in designing and implementing price-risk management strategies.

Scott represents the NLPA in several areas including serving on the boards of directors of the National Institute of Animal Agriculture and the National Livestock Ethics Council; as a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Agricultural Brokers Advisory Committee; and as the staff representative to the Livestock Marketing Policy Subcommittee of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives in Washington, D.C.


Scharee Atchison, Director of Operations



Scharee L. Atchison joined NLPA in 1998 as Director of Member Services and Corporate Secretary and in 2007 became the Director of Operations. Scharee is a Colorado native who has a degree in agricultural journalism from Colorado State University. She is skilled in coordinating meeting events, accounting and office management.

Scharee is a Colorado native, raised east of Pueblo in the Arkansas River Valley on her family’s ranch. Commercial cow/calf, feedlot, heifer warmup and grain and forage field crops were the areas of concentration. Prior to coming to NLPA she worked at the American Quarter Horse Association Journal as a regional sales representative for the southwest. She was also a meeting planner and facility event coordinator for the Colorado State University Equine Science Program.
